This month we'd like to tell you about a family friend, Jayme Hansen. Jayme is a multifaceted gem whose talents span the gamut of all things creative. She is a musician, costume designer, choreographer and a visual artist. A former employee of Reynolds Optical, Jayme was notorious for her skills in adjustments and repairs and her unique fashion sense. Not only did she work full time in our shops while maintaining a part time night job but she also found the time to devote herself fully to many creative endeavors and public performances. Part super-woman you say? We think so too!
Jayme is most known for her part in co-founding the innovative performance group, Fleshtone. She is both front woman and costume designer for the Portland based entertainment faction. Fleshtone is a collaborative, mixed media performance combining electronic music, choreography, costumes and video animation. Fleshtone follows a narrative exploring the themes of unconditional love, freedom from preconceived sexual stereotypes and diversity. Intrigued? Then check out Fleshtone's final monthly performance at Holocene on Friday march 31st.
Jayme is one of those rare individuals whose drive and vision fuel her desire to express herself. Under her label, Birds of Prey, she creates one of a kind hats and clothing available in Portland at Seaplane and Pinkham Millinery.
