It's hard to believe that our modest optical shop has served the Portland community for almost 100 years...! In 2006, in cooperation with the Oregonian we ran a series of ads highlighting just some of the many people who have graced our business and our lives over the years. Here is a recap of the 11 individuals featured in those ads, we hope their stories will inspire you as they inspired us.

This month we'd like to introduce you to Eugene Gray, owner of Eugenio's on SE Division. Eugene loves food, loves music, and loves laughter. He loves his restaurant, and it's obvious as soon as you walk in the door. This isn't just a job; this is Eugene's vision.

Eugenio's (3584 SE Division St.) opened in 2002 and has changed quite a bit over the years. In the beginning it was primarily a dry goods market, specializing in premium meats and cheeses with a small lunch menu. They continue to serve lunch, but have recently added a dinner menu available from 5pm - 9pm, and a bar serving both beer and wine. The meats are spectacular; buffalo, osso buco, venison rack, elk, and duck, but if you ask us their "specialty" has always been atmosphere. Eating at Eugenio's is like eating in your friend's kitchen while an incredible meal is being prepared just for you....

Eugene has been a loyal customer of Reynolds Optical since 2003 and we are thankful to have him as a part of our lives. Whether in his Aero sunglasses or Paul Smith specs, Eugene is 20/20 to us! So go check it out! Enjoy the food, the music and the company, and while you're there tell Eugene that Reynolds Optical says hello. You'll know who he is - he'll either be cooking, grilling out on the sidewalk, socializing, or sitting on a table playing his guitar.
